Heywood Campbell Broun

Broun, Heywood Campbell (1888–1939), U.S. journalist. His column, “It Seems to Me,” published in the New York Tribune (1912–21), New York World (1921–28), and New York Telegram (1928–39), was widely read for its liberal political and social views; he also wrote for the Post and The New Republic. His views, as in his defense of Sacco and Vanzetti, brought him into frequent conflict with his publishers. He ran for Congress as a Socialist (1930), and established the American Newspaper Guild (1933), serving as president until his death.
