Ralph Johnson Bunche
Bunche, Ralph Johnson (1904–71), U.S. diplomat. He entered the UN in 1946, and was undersecretary for political affairs 1958–71. Having supervised the 1959 Arab-Israeli armistice, he became the first African American to win the Nobel Peace Prize (1950).
