Luis Buñuel

Buñuel, Luis (1900–83), Spanish-Mexican director of films marked by fierce realism, social criticism, and wry humor. Surrealist fantasy is evident in his work ever since his first film, Un Chien andalou (made with Salvador Dali in 1929).
