Bustard

Bustard, any of Otididae family of large-bodied, strong-legged birds of the Old World and Australia, usually with drab plumage but sometimes with ornamental plumes on the head and neck. They feed on seeds, leaves, and small animals and prefer to run rather than fly. The great bustard is the size of a turkey. Bustards are scarce in many places, as they have been killed for food.
