Cain

Cain, in the Old Testament, eldest son of Adam and Eve (Gen. 4:1), a tiller of the ground. Because the offering of his brother Abel was accepted by God, and his own rejected, he murdered Abel, and was doomed to be a wandering fugitive. But God gave him a protective sign and promised sevenfold vengeance if he were slain. He built a city and named it Enoch for his son (Gen. 4:17).
