Al Capone
Capone, Al (1899–1947), U.S. gangster. He became head of a lucrative Chicago crime syndicate in the 1920s, and was involved in many gang murders, including the St. Valentine's Day Massacre. Because of the difficulty in securing evidence against him, he was eventually convicted only of income-tax evasion (1931).
