Stokely Carmichael



Carmichael, Stokely (1941– ), U.S. Black Power leader. Prominent in the civil rights movement in the 1960s, he then advocated violent revolution and spent some time in exile in Algeria. He later argued for the use of political and economic power to attain African American demands.
