Carnegie, Dale (1888–1955), U.S. author and lecturer whose How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936) became the best-selling nonfiction work of modern times, second only to the Bible. He offered courses in effective speaking and human relations in more than 750 U.S. cities and 15 foreign countries.
