Carpaccio, Vittore (c.1460–1526), Venetian Renaissance narrative painter, influenced by Gentile Bellini. A major work is the cycle of 9 paintings of the Legend of St. Ursula (1490–95), typical in its atmospheric use of color and meticulous detail to create fantasy settings.
