Centipede



Centipede, long-bodied member of the class Chilopoda, phylum Arthropoda with 2 legs to each of their 15 to 100 segments. They are usually 1–2 in (2.5–5 cm) long, though in the tropics some reach 1 ft (30 cm). Normally insectivorous they paralyze their food by injecting poison through a pair of pincers located near the head. Centipedes live in moist places under stones or in soil.
