Chinchilla
Chinchilla, rodent (genus Chinchilla) noted for its soft gray fur. Wild chinchillas were once common in the Andes from Peru to Argentina, but extensive hunting has made them rare. Now reared on fur farms, 100 chinchillas provide the pelts for a single coat.
