Christie, Dame Agatha (1891–1976), British writer of popular detective novels and plays. Her works, which include The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (1926), The Mousetrap (1952), and The Pale Horse (1962) feature her 2 central characters, the egotistical Hercule Poirot and the elderly Miss Jane Marple.
