Cities of refuge

Cities of refuge, 6 cities of ancient Palestine. People accused of murders, committed by accident or in self-defense remained safe in these cities until they were tried. If found innocent, they continued to live in the cities of refuge. If found guilty, they were returned to the place of the crime for punishment.
