Clingman's Dome
Clingman's Dome, highest point in Tennessee, located in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It rises 6,643 ft (2,025 m) on the Tennessee-North Carolina boundary about 35 mi (56 km) southeast of Knoxville. The peak was named for Thomas L. Clingman, U.S. senator from North Carolina, who helped develop the area, a popular resort region.
