William Cobbett
Cobbett, William (1763–1835), British radical writer and reformer, best known for his book Rural Rides (1830), which portrayed the misery of rural workers. His Weekly Political Register (founded 1802) was the major reform newspaper of its day. He was elected to Parliament after the 1832 Reform Act.
