Michael Collins



Collins, Michael (1930– ), U.S. astronaut. A member of the astronaut program 1963–70, he was pilot of the Columbia command module on the Apollo 11 mission that landed Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin, Jr. on the moon (1969). In 1971 Collins became director of the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
