Connecticut River



Connecticut River, longest river in New England. Rising in northern New Hampshire, the Connecticut flows south 407 mi (655 km) through Massachusetts and Connecticut before emptying into Long Island Sound. Discovered by Dutch explorers in 1614, the river is of great historical, agricultural, and industrial significance to the northeastern United States.
