Gary Cooper
Cooper, Gary (1901–61), U.S. film actor. He portrayed laconic, romantic heroes in such films as A Farewell to Arms (1933) and For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943), and won Academy Awards for roles in Sergeant York (1941) and High Noon (1952).
