Covington



Covington (pop. 43,264), city in northern Kentucky, situated on the Ohio River across from Cincinnati, Ohio. The city was founded in 1815 and named after General Leonard Covington, a cavalry officer from Maryland who fought and died in the War of 1812. Covington is a major distribution center for Kentucky's products, which include machinery, tobacco, lumber, canned goods, and X-ray and electrical equipment.
